Basketball Shooting
By Gary Boren, Basketball Shooting Coach for The Dallas
Mavericks, Mark Mason and Denny Price
Forward by Don Nelson
Head Coach and General Manager
Dallas Mavericks
The game of basketball is one of the most popular games in the world,
and the skill of shooting is the most important within the game. The
majority of all points scored come from free throws and outside two and
three point shooting combined, so the purpose of this basketball shooting
book is to help players improve their shooting skills in these areas, or
coaches who want to help others shoot better.
In basketball, you have to score to win and you have to shoot to score. In
the basketball shooting book we first address free throw shooting, because
it is the foundation of all shooting. On an outside shot, the upper body
should be doing the same thing as on a free throw. Then we address outside
shooting. All of the above is presented in a straightforward fashion so
anyone can use the information to become a better shooter. Then we provide
instruction on how to become a better scorer.

About Gary Boren
