Boren has served as an NBA Free Throw Shooting Coach for the past 14 years. He worked with the Golden State Warriors from 1993 to 1995, The New York Knicks in 1996, and the Dallas Mavericks since 1997. In the past 8 years the Mavericks have finished 2nd, 2nd, 1st, 1st, 1st, 4th, 6th and  2nd in the 30 team league. In the past 7 years, the Mavericks have finished 1st, 1st, 1st, 5th, 4th, 3rd,  and 5th of the 16 playoff teams. Several NBA free throw records have been set during this period, including an amazing 49 consecutive made in one game against San Antonio in the 2003 playoffs.
