Free Throw Shooting

Dear Gary,

Just a quick note to say how much I enjoyed our discussion about free throw shooting. Your insights into the art of teaching the foul shot will be extremely beneficial to my staff and I. We are anxious to apply some of your ideas to our players and anticipate improvements.

Once again, I enjoyed our discussion and hope to speak with you again in the future.

Sincerely,

Jim Calhoun
Head Basketball Coach
University of Connecticut
Men's Basketball

Dear Gary,

I wanted to drop you a note to tell you how much your instruction has helped our free throw shooting.

I've been coaching for 20 years and consider myself a good teacher of shooting. After following your free throw analysis system, I realize how much I didn't know about free throw shooting. It's the best way to improve foul shooting and I would recommend it to all college coaches.

Thanks again for your help. Best wishes for continued success.

Sincerely,

Steve Donahue
Head Basketball Coach
Cornell University

Dear Gary,

Thank you for coming to Pittsburgh and training our staff on the "Art" of shooting free throws. We have already started to implement the program you provided for our players and it is paying dividends. I know that your influence will make a difference during our season as we will shoot better from the line.

Our players have responded with a great deal of enthusiasm to the program. They like seeing themselves shooting - many of them have never had their free throws video taped. It is important that the players buy into the program in order for it to be successful. Well, it is clear to me that they are really excited about making the commitment to getting better and the credit for that goes to your philosophies on how to teach proper free throw shooting techniques.

I am sure that your history of success as a free throw shooting coach is going to have an extremely positive influence on our program. Duquesne Basketball, today, is a better program than it was before you began work as a consultant for us. Our entire staff is thankful that you were able to make the trip to Pittsburgh.

Looking forward to working with you for years to come. Best of luck to you during the 2002-2003 season.

Sincerely yours,

Danny Nee
Head Basketball Coach
Duquesne University

To Whom It May Concern,

I am happy to recommend Gary Boren as an outstanding shooting instructor. Gary spent time with me and my staff discussing all aspects of shooting. The discussion was thought provoking and enlightening for me and my staff. In the end we were very encouraged by all the different aspects of shooting techniques that we have used and will use to teach our players the art of free throw shooting.

Gary Boren's insightful way of presenting the facts about making free throws with the statistical information to back up his philosophy and video that allows you to see it for yourself makes his presentation worthwhile for all players and coaches. Gary has had the opportunity to work with some of the outstanding professional players and his techniques have helped all of them. My staff and I are convinced that free throw shooting is the key to winning all close ball games and can't be emphasized enough.

If you have any questions about free throw shooting, don't hesitate to call Gary Boren.

Sincerely,

Jim Jim Larranaga
Head Basketball Coach

George Mason University

To Whom It May Concern,

I very much enjoyed Gary Boren's presentation in free throw shooting. He has good general concepts, but more importantly, he does a great job of tailoring the concepts to individuals.

Unlike many teachers, he has some scientific reasons behind his shooting concepts.

Sincerely,

Royce Waltman
Head Basketball Coach
Indiana State University

Gary Williams
